FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE PRESENT
Kryzhynka
"Kryzhynka" embodies the evolution of a regular school into a worldwide hockey brand. Step into a narrative where each glide on the ice signifies triumphs not only in sports but also in life.
Establishment and growth

The school was established on December 17, 1971, and for forty years, it operated from its location at 55 Velika Vasylkivska Street.

In January 2012, the school adopted its current name. Along with the name change, the school relocated to 12 Khreshchatyk Street.

Coaches

Currently, "Kryzhynka" boasts a team of 16 coaches and teachers. Among them are Masters of Sports of Ukraine of international class, as well as other experienced specialists. They all adhere to the best traditions of world hockey in their coaching approach.

Yevhen Alipov
Coach

Yevhen Alipov, boasting extensive experience playing for both Ukrainian and foreign clubs, transitioned to coaching after his illustrious playing career. Since 2005, he has coached various clubs and national teams, including "Galac", "Sokil-99", and "Kompanion-Neftegaz". Since 2012, he has served as a coach-teacher at Kryzhynka, where he imparts his wealth of knowledge to nurture the next generation of hockey players.

Oleksandr Sukhenko
Coach

Oleksandr Sukhenko, a coach at Kryzhynka and a graduate of "Sokil", boasts an illustrious playing career with top clubs in Ukraine and abroad. Since 2009, he has been mentoring at Kryzhynka, guiding his protégés to victories both domestically and internationally. Notably, under his tutelage, Kryzhynka-Capitals clinched youth championships.

Oleksandr Fedorov, a graduate of "Sokil" and a seasoned goalkeeper, has been coaching at Kryzhynka since 2018. With a journey from Ukrainian clubs to international stages like the Olympic Games, he now imparts his knowledge to the junior and youth national teams of Ukraine, shaping a new generation of goalkeepers.

Ihor Yurchenko
Coach

Ihor Yurchenko, began his career at Kryzhynka and went on to play for "Sokil", "Tallex", and "Trafford Metros" before returning to win a championship with "Berkut". A participant in world championships, he later served as director of Kryzhynka and now holds the position of deputy and coach, passing on his invaluable experience to the youth.

Oleksiy Madera, originally from "Sokil", transitioned from HC "Lokomotiv 2" to "Generals", showcasing his skills across various leagues and countries from 2004 to 2017. Since 2017, he has been coaching groups born in 2009 and 2018 at Kryzhynka, utilizing his extensive experience to foster the growth of young hockey players.

Oleg Nikulin, an instructor and methodologist at Kryzhynka, began his hockey journey in Kyiv, representing teams like "Chervony Eskvavator" and "Mashinobudivnyk". Transitioning to coaching, he started at "Chervony Eskvavator" before moving to Kryzhynka and "Sokil". With experience gained in North America and Switzerland, he returned to Kryzhynka in 2007, where he continues to train future champions.

Kyrylo Zhovnir, a graduate and the youngest coach at Kryzhynka, began his hockey journey in Kremenchuk before playing for Generals, Dynamo, and Donbas, where he clinched Ukrainian championship titles. With success in the WSHL and on the national team, securing gold at the World Championship, he now nurtures the development of youth born in 2014 at Kryzhynka.

Vadym Kir'yan, a renowned coach-selector at the Kryzhynka, began his journey in hockey at Sokil Kyiv. From 1995 to 2009, he coached at Sokil guiding the team born in 1996 to become champions of Ukraine. Subsequently, from 2011 to 2017, he played a pivotal role in the "Hockey Academy-College" project of the FHU, managing "Brovarskyi Vovki" and "Shershnyi" (Bohuslav), contributing to the establishment of a hockey school in Kovalivka. Since 2020, he has been collaborating with Kryzhynka at the Olympic College.

Yuriy Pavlov
Coach

Yuriy Pavlov, a senior coach at Kryzhynka, embarked on his hockey journey with Avangard before making history as the first player from Kyiv to join Dynamo. Serving as captain during the 1969/70 season, he concluded his remarkable playing career in 1979. Having spent three seasons in Dynamo and Sokil in the top league (77 matches) and eight in the first division (370), he now devotes himself to nurturing young talent, with one of his notable pupils being Dmytro Hristych.

Ruslan Borysenko, hailing from Chernihiv and a product of "Sokil", now coaches at Kryzhynka. He braved a 140 km journey for training, playing for "Sokil", "Kompanion", "Donbas", and the Ukrainian national team, with stints in Kazakhstan and France. He trained the "Kryzhani Vovki" and currently assists at HC "Dnipro" (Kherson) and with the junior national team.

Vasyl Bobrovnikov, an honored sports worker and former captain of "Sokol" and national team veteran, brings his wealth of experience to coaching at Kryzhynka since 2017. With a background that includes the 2002 Olympics, he now manages the youth team, imparting his knowledge to the next generation while actively supporting the Armed Forces as a volunteer.

Recognition and achievements

Our school has been honored twice with the title of the best hockey school in Ukraine. Through participation in tournaments of various scales, the Kryzhynka have earned recognition not only domestically but also internationally.

Among our graduates are renowned hockey players and coaches, including Dmytro Hristych, Oleksandr Godynyuk, Serhii Nuzhin, Mykhailo Slipchenko, Vadym Shakhraichuk, Anatoly Naida, Igor Yurchenko, Serhii Babii, Igor Nikulin, Anatoliy Khomenko, Oleg Posmetyev, Yuriy Yakovlev, Yevhen Popov, and many others.
Infrastructure and training sessions
Training takes place in three arenas located in Kyiv and Brovary, where everyone will find a place for classes - from a beginner to a professional. Eight age groups from U-7 to U-19 guarantee an individual approach and development of each athlete. The oldest team traditionally plays in the Youth Hockey League.

Our mission extends beyond producing exceptional hockey players; we aim to nurture successful individuals. Through our partnership with HC "Kyiv Capitals", we offer students opportunities to excel in both sports and life, fostering critical thinking and teamwork skills. Together, we pave the way for a promising future.

For half a century, "Kryzhynka" has been molding not just hockey champions, but also resilient individuals prepared for life's trials. We cultivate leaders who embody teamwork and understand victory extends far beyond the ice rink.
