This evening, the teams didn`t have their optimal line-ups. In addition to the previously announced absence of the Universiade bronze medalists, the nominal hosts were without Petrov, Cherdak, Kachan, Vysotenko, Maksym Zherebko, and Haiduk for various reasons. However, Razumov and Sobchenko made their return after a long absence.

On the other hand, our team’s line-up was significantly rejuvenated. Only two experienced players, Petlenko and Buniak, participated in the game. At the same time, Zanevskyi made his debut in the current championship.

Sokil took the initiative in the game, putting pressure on Petlenko’s goal with numerous shots. Despite this, our goalkeeper managed to withstand the onslaught and kept the scoreline intact by the end of the first period.

However, it was disappointing to concede a curious goal from Denys Zherebko. Sokil`s forward took a shot from the middle zone, catching Petlenko off guard as he misjudged the puck’s rebound from the ice.

It should be noted that this moment didn`t break Ihor Arkhypenko’s team, as they continued to challenge the reigning champion. Despite facing a five-minute penalty for Mazko, the guests played well in defense. The score remained at a minimum difference until the 49th minute when Zakharov executed a brilliant solo pass, bypassing the defense of Kryzhynka. The puck rebounded off Mazko and sneakily found its way past Petlenko, ending up in the goal.

Unfortunately, our team lacked the strength needed for the final part of the match. Zherebko scored his second goal, while Yanishevskyi and Sobchenko added one goal each, resulting in a final score of 5:0.

This defeat has narrowed Oleg Shafarenko’s team’s gap to the Kyiv Capitals in the standings, which now stands at five points. They are set to face Dnipro in a home match tomorrow, while Kryzhynka will take on Sokil again next Friday.
