After the pause, both teams entered the face-to-face match with a strong determination to boost their low point tally. Kostiantyn Butsenko made a single modification compared to the previous game against Capitals, replacing Zinchenko in the fourth line with Ventliand.

In contrast, the hosts were able to count on 18 field players for the first time in a long time. Matvii Mazko, in his debut match after moving from Kyiv Capitals to Ihor Arkhypenko’s team, partnered with Oleksandr Buniak in the first defensive pair. Buniak returned to the squad following an injury sustained in the previous match against the Pikes.

The initial period saw intense play from both sides, with the guests eventually taking the lead. However, Smerteniuk’s penalty provided Kryzhynka with a 5×4 opportunity. Shortly after, Nevierov was penalized for tripping, abruptly ending the power play. Despite this, it was the Kherson team who broke the deadlock, capitalizing on equal numbers as Dnipro initiated their offensive play with a man advantage. Osadchyi netted his fourth goal of the season after a pass from Ivanchenko.

Towards the end of the period, the hosts found themselves short-handed after two additional penalties, giving the guests a brief 29-second 5×3 opportunity. However, Kryzhynka not only withstood this test, but also scored. Cheremnov set up Shevchenko beautifully for a one-on-one with Terletskyi, which he converted expertly.

The second period saw a continued parade of penalties. First, Kherson regained the lead through Ponomariov’s goal on a power play, before Nevierov received a crucial five-minute penalty that influenced the outcome of the match significantly. Overall, Kryzhynka spent shorthanded 19 minutes compared to 12 minutes for the opposition.

Kostiantyn Butsenko’s team dominated during 5×4 game as they managed to score two more goals thanks to precise shots from Klionov and Valentyn Muryn. This extended their lead over the Kyiv team to three goals. The period continued as Tsiura and Khalin scored, finding the back of the net against Makarenko and Petlenko, who had come on for Danylo during the second period.

The third period kicked off with a swift goal from Zhurenko. Despite this, our team tried to narrow the gap in the scoreline. Kryzhynka’s captain, Bunyak, notched the fourth goal of the season, and the team earned a double power play for almost two minutes. However, solid defense by Terletskyi thwarted any further goals from the hosts.

As the match neared its conclusion, Osadchyi netted a double, securing an 8:2 victory. Dnipro ended the 13th round with six points while Ihor Arkhypenko’s squad left empty-handed. Both teams are set to play their next fixtures next Friday: Kostiantyn Butsenko’s squad will face Sokil in Bila Tserkva, while Kryzhynka will travel to Kremenchuk.
