After a brief training camp, our team headed to Kremenchuk to kick off the Ukrainian Championship. In this matchup, Ihor Arkhypenko had only three fives to rely on. Also former Kremenchuk player Danylo Makarenko faced off against his ex-team on the Iceberg rink after a good cup tournament.
The hosts wasted no time in asserting their dominance, opening the scoring within the first minute through a quick break and finish by Kryvoshapkin. Just 15 seconds later, Tymchenko netted another goal to double the lead. The swift strikes made it challenging for Kyiv team to bounce back as Sriubko’s squad continued to apply pressure, resulting in goals from Tselohorodtsev, Lialka, and a stunning long-range strike from Piddubnyi. Serednytskyi also got on the scoresheet with a well-placed shot.
After such a starting period, the goal of Kryzhynka became to gradually move the game away from their own goal. Two air alarms were added to the match in Kremenchuk, which clearly didn`t add any positive vibes to anyone.
In the final 20 minutes, Kremenchuk managed to score three additional goals. Ihnatenko and Lialka stood out during power plays, while Braha scored his goal during even-strength situations.
Unfortunately, our team was unable to match their opponent’s intensity in the closing period, as Andrii Sriubko’s team continued to dominate. The game ended with seven more goals from the opposing team, resulting in a final score of 16:0.
Despite this outcome, Ihor Arkhypenko’s young team must learn from this experience, make necessary adjustments, and focus on the remainder of the season. In the upcoming matches, Kryzhynka will face off against Sokil, while Kremenchuk will travel to Kyiv to take on Capitals.
