Today’s game for the Capitals was played without Vadym Shakhraichuk, who fell ill some days before. As a result, his assistant, Yurii Hunko, managed the team from the bench.
The hosts made several changes to their lineup, with Boiko taking the place in goal and newcomer Vasyliiev replacing Luhovyi in the second pair of defenders. Vladyslav was sidelined due to injury.
On the other hand, Ihor Arkhypenko’s team faced the challenge without Shvachka, Nevierov, Khrypun, and Dreval, who were on the ice in the previous game against Sokil.
In the fourth minute, the hosts showed their dominance over their less experienced opponents. Chernenko scored the first goal of the season in impressive fashion after receiving a pass from Liesnikov. Just two minutes later, Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team capitalized on their first power play of the game, with the captain scoring a double.
The hosts didn’t waste their second power play opportunity, with Koida finding the back of the net.
Capitals didn`t hesitate to score for the fourth time. Liesnikov skillfully intercepted the puck from the opponent and took it to Makarenko`s goal.
As the opponents headed into a break, their momentum was interrupted by an air alert across the entire territory of Ukraine. The game was temporarily halted until the air defense forces ensured safety, resulting in a delay of around 45 minutes.
During the break, Kryzhynka players regrouped for the second period. The guest captain, Buniak, managed to outplay Capitals’ goalkeeper, but the home team scored twice during the second period. The authors of pucks were Sekirko and Kryvonozhkin.
In the final period, Capitals further extended their lead with a goal from Tyshchenko, who scored after Dvornyk`s assist. Another two pucks were scored by Valkun and Karpenko.
With this victory, Capitals now have two wins in the Kyiv derby. Vadym Shakhraichuk’s team is set to face Dnipro on Wednesday, while Ihor Arkhypenko’s squad will take on Storm-Odesa the following day.
