Our team had 14 field players available for the match, while the guests traditionally fielded a full lineup. Viktor Nikonov and Eduard Zakharchenko, who were included in the match squad against Sokil, were given the opportunity to rest for this game. Oleksandr Bobkin and Ruslan Borysenko, who were with the Ukrainian U-17 national team, weren`t present on the coaching bench, leaving Serhii Babynets in charge of Storm-Odesa.
The guests managed to score in the middle of the first period, with Aleksiuk capitalizing on Abdullaiev’s shot to put the puck past Makarenko. Before the first break, Storm-Odesa extended the lead as Kutsevych converted his shot into goal during a power play opportunity.
In the second period, Storm-Odesa managed to score the same number of goals as their in previous, showcasing some excellent quick counterattacks. The first of these goals came after a pass from Kryklia, finished off accurately by Skorokhod. The second goal came during a short-handed situation, with Stetsiura deftly maneuvering past Makarenko to find the back of the net. Danylo’s skillful work prevented the opponent from increasing their lead further.
As the third period began, Ihor Arkhypenko’s team found their breakthrough moment. Shevchenko scored his fourth goal of the season after a successful team combination. However, the guests responded with three more goals, with Novikov, Sydorenko, and Stetsyura (scoring a double) finding the back of the net.
With this result, Oleksandr Bobkin’s team secured the third spot with 31 points. Storm-Odesa will play next match in Kremenchuk in the new year, while Kryzhynka will face Kyiv Capitals tomorrow.
