Our team arrived to the Poltava region with a relatively small squad. During the match, Ihor Arkhypenko relied on three forward trios and only two pairs of defensemen. Most of the experienced players were missing, except for Makarenko, Petlenko, and Shevchenko, who served as the team’s captain.
Kremenchuk was without defenders Kryvenko and Matusevych. The lineups looked quite experimental.
Thanks to Petlenko’s stellar performance and the team’s solid defensive efforts, Kryzhynka managed to put up a good fight against the opponent in the goalless first period. Despite the home team’s scoring attempts, nearly 4,5 minutes in the power play, and the substitution of the sixth field player for Hordiushyn, they were unable to break the deadlock.
Similar to the match against Dnipro, the Kyiv team faltered in the second period, which also ended with the same scoreline. But before our team had a 23-second double powerplay, but Kremenchuk defended well and quickly capitalized on the opportunity, thanks to Bezuhlyi’s efforts.
Within 58 seconds, Petlenko gained possession of the puck twice, leading to effective goals by Kryvoshapkin and Andriushchenko. Borys scored another goal before the period ended, while Hevorkian added another point to Kremenchuk`s scoreline. Also after the fourth goal, Petlenko was substituted by Makarenko.
In the third 20-minute period, the team focused on minimizing mistakes and targeting Hordiushyn’s possessions.
Tselohorodtsev extended the home team’s lead, followed by goals from Pankov and Abadzhian, resulting in a final score of 8:0 in favor of Kremenchuk.
This victory propelled the team from the Poltava region to third place, surpassing Storm-Odesa. Kryzhynka’s next match will be against Sokil on December 23, while Andrii Sribko’s team will face Kyiv Capitals a day later.
